“ALL my desires are before you God, my hope is not hidden from you” – Did you notice that David told God ALL his desires about EVERY aspect of his life. (Psalm 20:4)
“Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a dream fulfilled is a tree of life (Proverbs 13:12). This Psalm is warning that if you don’t follow the dreams of your heart, it makes us sick or depressed. Instead, God wants us to have dreams fulfilled, which is a tree of life!
“May God give you the desires of your heart, and make all your plans succeed” – This is David’s prayer for you! (Psalm 20:4)
Why would David pray that, if your dreams were not important to God? The truth is, they are! This is one of the ways God speaks to us (as well as the Bible) and God placed them within you so that you would discover and fulfil them.
Have you ever said to God “What do you want me to do with my life”? I know you have, because we all wonder that. Well, the desires within you (which God put there) are a huge clue to His plans for your life.
God gave you dreams to not only enrich your own life, but to impact the lives of others for His Kingdom. Your dreams have “Kingdom-Assignments” and when you step into them, life is released to others and they are drawn to God. How amazing is that!
John Wesley knew this. He said “I continue to dream about a revival in my day, which transforms our nation”. And as he pursued that dream, God used him, and the world was changed and many drawn to Jesus.
Not all of us will be itinerant preachers, but ALL of us have been given dreams by God.
What are your dreams?
